Ladder 1 is the only "Truck" Company in the city and the only straight truck (no pump or water) as well. L-1 has a larger first-due area than Engine 1 as the 3 large aerials (Ladder 1, Quint 8, Quint 16) split the city into 3 response areas as the "Truck Company" on alarms.

Rescue Squad 1 - 1997 Ford/Ferrara (BR-835) walk-in Heavy Rescue
Rescue 1 protects the city south of the Lloyd Expressway from the Ohio River all the way east to the city line at the Warrick County line and an area north of the Lloyd on the far Eastside. Their district includes 10 miles of I-164 as it wraps around the south & east sides of the city (excluding a small portion in Warrick County).

The truck alone responds to most minor incidents in the city and only hauls the trailer (Hazmat 2) to major incidents. Hazmat 1 is cross-manned by the crew of Ladder 1, but all of Station 1 is Hazmat trained and reesponds on all Hazmat calls.
