Monroe Township Fire Department
Stations 2 & 3

The Town of Henryville is located 25 miles north of Louisville, KY along I-65 in northern Clark County. Monroe Township Fire Department was established in 1949. Nearby Underwood VFD was organized in 1974 and then merged into Monroe Twp in 1997. This combination department now includes more than 40 members that respond from a three stations. MTFD protects nearly 100 square miles including the towns of Henryville and Underwood.

Station 2
Station 2 - Underwood
Completed in 2000, Station 2 sits along US-31, just south of the Town of Underwood. It protects the northern portions of the Township and is home to Engines 2024, 2025, Service 2051, Tanker 2063, Brush Trucks 2086 and 2088 and Squad 2092. Engine

E2024 is the first-due apparatus for most incidents from station 2.

Engine 2025 - 1970 Mack CF Pumper - 1250gpm/500gal
This rig started it's career serving Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania. It then served nearby Clarksville, IN before moving to Monroe
Township. It now serves as the second-due and reserve pumper from Station 2.

Service 2051 - 1990 GMC TopKick/Hackney/2007 FD
2051 responds for Hazmat incidents. It was refurbished and setup by the department from a previous beverage vehicle.

Squad 2092
Squad 2092 - 1993 Chevy Suburban "The Deer Slayer"- Medical Quick Response
This apparatus got it's nickname when it struck a deer while responding to a run. The fire personnel were unharmed, however
the deer didn't fare as well.
 
Station 3
Station 3 - Henryville-Blue Lick Rd & Broadway Road
Completed in 2007, Station 3 is home to Engine 2023, Tanker 2062 and an antique rig.

This truck was the department's first apparatus. Department members hope to restore it in some way beginning in 2008. The
tank and pump may be taken out and even new body part fabricated for it to bring the department original back to life for
parades and special events.
