New Washington
Volunteer Fire Department

The Town of New Washington is just up the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky in northeastern Clark County. Established in 1954, this all-volunteer department includes 45 members that respond from two stations. NWFD responds to approximately 300 runs each year in their mostly rural fire protection district. NWVFD provides Fire, Rescue, EMS and Water Rescue protection to 90 square miles of Washington, Oregon, Owen and Bethlehem Townships.

Station 1 serves as department HQ and is home to Engine 8111, Rescue 8121, Ladder 8161 and Tankers 8121 and 8122.

The body is older than the current chassis, but was completly re-furbed in house. The design on the body was created by one of our firefighters and all the graphic vinyl was applied by members, including myself.
 
Tanker 8121

The smaller of NWVFD's two tankers was actually fabricated and built by one of the firefighters in-house.

This tanker was purchased from McCulloch VFD in Clark County.  It was originally white, but that situation was "corrected"
when it came to NWVFD.

NWVFD utilizes this fast boat to provide top water rescue response to 16 miles of the Ohio River.
