Washington Fire Department

The City of Washington is located 110 miles southwest of Indianapolis at the crossroads of IN-57 and US-50 in southwestern Daviess County. WFD provides Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to the City of Washington and approximately 12,000 residents. It is the only full-time department in the county with 17 full-time members responding from two stations. EMS Service is provided locally by Southwest Ambulance Service.

Located on the southside of downtown, Station 1 serves as headquarters and is home to Engine 8, Engine 81, ATV 8 and
Command 8. The station is also connected to the Mayor's Office and City Council chambers.

Formerly designated Ladder 3, this rig runs as a Quint and is the department's only aerial truck. It serves as the first-due
apparatus out of Station 1 for all incidents.

Located on the west side of the city, Station 2 was completed in 2000. It is home to Engine 8, Engine 82, Brush 8 and a
local firefighting museum.

As shown here, this rig was designated as Engine 6 until 2007. E-8 is the first due apparatus from Station 2. It is staffed by 2-3
firefighters and responds to Fire, Rescue and BLS calls.

Up until 1979, WFD provided fire protection for the town and the surrounding rural areas of Washington Township.
Since the Washington Twp VFD was formed, there has been little need for Brush 4 inside the city limits.
