Greensburg
Fire Department


Greensburg is located 55 miles southeast of Indianapolis along
I-74 in Decatur County. Established in 1874, this combination department provides Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to more than 13,000 residents and 64 square miles in Greensburg and Washington Township. Greensburg is the only firehouse in Decatur County that has a paid firefighter on duty 24 hours a day.

Greensburg Station

Station is currently home to all 7 Greensburg apparatus. As with many mixed departments in the state, each apparatus has the
markings of either Greensburg or Washington Township depending on which government purchased the equipment. A
mini-pumper will be stationed at the Honda plant along I-74 while a second station is under consideration.

  Engine 8 is the first-due pumper for the City and also serves as the backup rescue.

Engine 4 serves as the primary reponse engine for all EMS calls and working fires in Washington Township.

This truck serves as the second due City Engine behind Engine 8. Mercifully, it was repainted from it's original lime green color!

Rescue Truck 11 serves as the department's rescue unit. It also runs with volunteer departments county-wide
for auto extrications and specialty rescues.

Due to the large farm and rural areas surrounding Greensburg, Tanker 14 gets a fair amount of use.
