Muncie Fire Department
Stations 2 & 3

The City of Muncie is located 59 miles northeast of Indianapolis along
I-69 in central Delaware County. Muncie's 7 stations provide Fire and Rescue protection to 67,000+ residents and the 19,000 students
of Ball State University.

Station 2
Station 2 - E. Memorial Drive and S. Hackney Street - Southeast
This firehouse is typically the busiest station at MFD. Located at the entrance to Heekin Park, the 2's is home to 2 Squad,
Ladder 2 and the Reserve Rescue.

2 Squad - 1996 KME Excel Pumper - 1500gpm/500gal
2 Squad - 2000 KME Excel Pumper #4534 - 1500gpm/500gal
Muncie's fleet includes both 4-man "Squads" and 3-man "Pumps." Muncie 1 and 2 Squad respond to ALS calls along
with Delaware County EMS. They serve as frontline Engines, but also respond for additional manpower to all working fires
and special incidents.

2 Squad - 1996 KME Excel Pumper - 1500gpm/500gal
2 Squad - 1999 KME Excel Pumper #HS2006 - 1500gpm/500gal
1 Squad runs out of Station 1 downtown and is a 1994 twin to 2 Squad above.

Truck 2 - 1980 Seagrave 100' Tiller Ladder
Truck 2 - 1983 Seagrave HT 100' Tiller Ladder
Truck 2 is unique in Indiana as one of the few working Tiller Ladders in the state (besides IFD's Ladder 7 and Ladder 31).
For many years Seagrave apparatus were not common in Indiana and it's lime green color definitely sets this rig apart!

Pump 2 - 1992 International/Ferrara - 1250gpm/500gal
Former Pump 2 - 1992 International/Ferrara Pumper - 1250gpm/500gal
Muncie's fleet included 4 identical Ferrara pumpers at Station 1,2, 4 & 5. Engines 1 & 2 were replaced by the Squads above
with 1 Pump being reassigned to 6 Pump to replace their Sutphen. This apparatus was eventually re-assigned to 4 Pump.

Reserve Rescue - 1981 FMC/Saulsbury
Reserve Rescue - 1981 Ford C/Marion - 250gpm/250gal/30gal Foam
This rig was replaced in 2003 with the Pierce shown above. However, it remains fully equipped and can be made available
as a second rescue truck when necessary.

Station 3
Station 3 - Hoyt Avenue at Willard Street
This single-engine firehouse protects the near southwest side. Surrounded by criss-crossing railroad tracks, this station can sometimes be cutoff from the rest of the city when responding to runs.

Pump 3 ds up
3 Pump - 1986 Sutphen Pumper #HT2006 - 1250gpm/500gal
Sutphen pumpers previously made up the majority of MFD's fleet. While Pumps 1, 3 & 7 remain, the others have been retired. Pumps 1 and 3 were twins delivered in 1986.
