Fire Department The City of Hammond sits just 20 miles southeast of Chicago in Lake County. It is located in the farthest northwest point in the state and includes a mix of residential, industrial and commercial buildings. Hammond 's career department includes 180 firefighters that respond to Fire, Hazmat, Tactical Rescue, and ALS calls from 7 fire stations. HFD protects more than 83,000 residents over 27 square miles. |

| Water Rescue Boat All members at Station 1 are cross-trained for top-water rescue. Whenever a water/dive rescue call comes in, this boat is pulled by a suburban and responds along with Engine 1 and Truck 1. A Lake County Dive Team comprised of various fire and police personnel handle all Tactical Dive Rescues but can be assisted by HFD. |

| Truck 22 -
1992 Pierce Arrow 75ft Aerial Ladder (#7888-01) - 1500gpm/300gal This rig previously served as Truck 2 until it was replaced by the current ALF in 2006. Since that time it has served as HFD's primary reserve ladder truck and is typically kept at Station 1 when not in service. |

| Hammond Fire Department Station 2 - "The Rock" -
2211 Calumet Avenue Located across from Wolf Lake, Station 2 was named for it's remote location on the city's far northside. Station 2 is home to Engine 2, Truck 2 and Ambulance 2 and a Hammond substation. |
