It is located in the farthest NW point in the state and includes a mix of residential, industrial and commercial buildings. Hammond 's career department includes 180 firefighters that respond to Fire, Hazmat, Tactical Rescue, and ALS calls from 7 fire stations. HFD protects 83,000+ residents over 27 square miles.
