Springfield Township Springfield Township is located just east of Michigan City near the Indiana/Michigan state line in northern LaPorte County. Established in 1960, STVFD remains 100% volunteer with 26 current members. Seven apparatus respond from a central station to provide Fire, Rescue and BLS non-transport protection to the Township's 40 square miles. Their district includes I-94 along with 4 state highways. Springfield Township responds to approximately 400 runs each year. |

| Engine 1943 - 2001 Ferrara Igniter Custom Pumper - 1500gpm Waterous pump w/1000gal water/30gal foam cell Engine 1943 is a BLS Engine with a full compliment of Hurst Tools. It is first due on all structure fires and second-due on vehicle accidents and extrication calls. Engine 1943 is powered by a 350 Cummins ISL with an Allison transmission. |
