Stations 3 & 4

The City of Bedford is located 89 miles SSW of Indianapolis along IN-37 in central Lawrence County. Shawswick Township surrounds the city with a majority of its area to the east of Bedford. Organized in 1974, this all-volunteer department includes 28 members who respond to 350 runs each year. SVFD provides Fire and Medical First-Responder protection 8,000 residents and 57 square miles of Shawswick Township.

Station 3
Shawswick Fire Station 3 -1984 Oxford Road and Dive Road - Northside
Located on the northside of Bedford, this firehouse is home to Engine 3 and Squad 3. It is dedicated to the memory of
Bernard D. Bartlett. His determined efforts as a member of the Shawswick Volunteer Firefighters Association were responsible
for the construction of this facility and it stands as a monument to his dedication to the fire service and to his community.

This apparatus is scheduled to be replaced by a newer DNR Chevy in 2009.
 
Station 4

Station 4 - 2005 E. Kenray Lake Road and Patricia Lane
Southeast The 4's protects the southeast corner of the Township to protect the community around the lake. The crash truck
you see in the station is a 1976 Oshkosh P4 that served in Peoria, Illinois and then at the Air National Guard based at Hulman
Field in Terre Haute, IN. The department will put it in service this year at Virgil Grissom Memorial Airport.
