Fire Department - Station 40

Located in northeastern Marion County, the Lawrence Fire Department includes 70 full-time members and 9 civilian EMT's who respond from four stations. LFD provide Fire, Rescue, Water Rescue and ALS protection to this city of 44,000 residents in the Greater Indianapolis Area.

Located on the northeast corner of Fort Benjamin Harrison, Station 40 is home to Ladder 40, Tactical 40, Squad 40,
and Medic 47. From the apparatus bay left is the actual LFD Station. The building connected to it houses Ivy Tech's Public Safety Education Program. The front of this building includes classrooms while the back includes apparatus bays that house
training equipment and trucks.

Ladder 40 serves as a Quint running out of the city's northside station on the northeast edge of Fort Benjamin Harrison.

In addition to it's own protection district, Ladder 40 serves as the department's Aerial and Rescue Company and responds
to all fire and extrication calls within the city. Consequently, this is usually the busiest apparatus in the department.

Squad 40 os
ALS Squad 40 - 2002 Ford F-550 XL Super Duty/1980's E-One Light Rescue
In 2008, LFD began running Squad 40 out of Station 40 to alleviate the wear and tear of excessive medical runs from Ladder 40. This apparatus was purchased from Perry Township on the Indy Southside where it served as Squad 662.

Medic 47 - 2001 Ford E-350/Marque type III
Three ambulances provide ALS service to the City of Lawrence (Medics 17, 37 & 47). Medic 47 responds
from Station 4 on the northside of Lawrence. It's district includes the Fort Benjamin Harrison Area
