Franklin Township Fire Department
Station 55 - Eastside

In 1991 three separate departments were consolidated into the Franklin Township Fire Department of today. FTFD currently includes 70 full-time personnel operating out of headquarters and five stations located across the township in southeast Marion County. FTFD provides Fire, Tactical Rescue and ALS protection to nearly 40,000 residents.

Station 55 is shown here shortly after it's opening in March 2008. Completed in December 2007, it is home to ALS Engine 55,
the TSO (Training/Safety Officer), the EDO (EMS Duty Officer) and Grass Rig 55.

E-55 is setup as a Rescue Pumper and responds to fire, extrication and medical calls from their station on the far eastside.

Engine 55 was the second of two identical Seagrave Marauders delivered to the department in 2007. It has a twin at E-52.

Grass 55 - 2000 Ford F-250 4x4 - 250gpm/250gal
Brush 55 includes small bumper nozzles in the front and jump seats in the back to assist firefighters with dousing grass and
field fires that can occur in the Township's most rural areas. Grass Rig 55 is the only active Grass Rig in Marion County.

The EDO is an administrative paramedic officer assigned to oversee EMS Duties and Reponses each shift.
