Valparaiso Fire Department Station 2 - Headquarters The City of Valparaiso is located 50 miles east of Chicago along US-30 in central Porter County. Established in 1868, the department now includes 68 career firefighters who respond from three stations. VFD provides Fire, Rescue and ALS/BLS protection to more than 40,000 residents of Valparaiso and Center Township. Their response area includes nearly 30 square miles and an additional 4,000 students on the Valparaiso University Campus. | ![]() |

| Valparaiso Fire Department Fire Station 2 Headquarters - 2605 Cumberland Drive at Vale Park Avenue Located on the northside of Valparaiso, Station 2 is home to the department's administration offices as well as eight apparatus. Station 2's fleet includes Engine 2, Rescue 2, Tower 1, Squad 3 and the department's rescue boats. |

| Former Rescue Squad 1 - 1999 Ford F-450 Medium Rescue Prior to the arrival of their ambulance service, VFD ran two, 2-man squads for medical assist calls. This rig is no longer in service. |

| Squad 3 - AMG Hummer Brush Truck/Mini-Pumper - 200 Gal/130
PSI Squad 3 was originally purchased as a quick-response rescue squad. However, the compartment space was not adequate to store necessary rescue equipment. Squad 3 was redesignated to a brush truck once Squad 2 was purchased. S3 can also responds to water rescue incidents and pulls the rescue boat trailer. |

| 1923 Seagrave On April 5, 2002 "Betsey," a 1923 Seagrave Fire Engine was returned to the Valparaiso Fire Department, ending a forty one-year extended leave. Her return on top of a trailer started in LaCrosse and ended when unloaded inside Valparaiso Fire Station 2 on Vale Park Avenue. |
