Station 3

The City of Valparaiso is located 50 miles east of Chicago along US-30 in central Porter County. Established in 1868, the department now includes 68 career firefighters who respond from three stations. VFD provides Fire, Rescue and ALS/BLS protection to more than 40,000 residents of Valparaiso and Center Township. Their response area includes nearly 30 square miles and an additional 4,000 students on the Valparaiso University Campus.

Completed in early 2009, Station 3 protects the west side of Valparaiso and is home to Engine and Rescue 3.

E-3 is the first-due on all fire and rescue calls at Station 3. This rig previously served as Engine 2 before moving to
temporary reserve status in 2008. It returned to frontline service with the opening of Station 3 in early 2009.
