Valparaiso Fire Department Station 3 The City of Valparaiso is located 50 miles east of Chicago along US-30 in central Porter County. Established in 1868, the department now includes 68 career firefighters who respond from three stations. VFD provides Fire, Rescue and ALS/BLS protection to more than 40,000 residents of Valparaiso and Center Township. Their response area includes nearly 30 square miles and an additional 4,000 students on the Valparaiso University Campus. | ![]() |

| Engine 3 - 1997 KME Excel Pumper - 1250gpm/1000gal E-3 is the first-due on all fire and rescue calls at Station 3. This rig previously served as Engine 2 before moving to temporary reserve status in 2008. It returned to frontline service with the opening of Station 3 in early 2009. |
