Fire-Rescue
The City of Batesville is located 60 miles southeast of Indianapolis along I-74 in northwest Ripley County. Established in 1887, the department now includes 43 paid-on-call firefighters and EMS personnel. Responding from a central station in downtown Batesville, BVFD provides, Fire, Rescue and ALS protection to 8,000+ residents and 15 square miles. Their Fire protection includes the City of Batesville and portions of Ray, Laughery, and Adams Townships. EMS services also extend into portions of Delaware, Salt Creek and Butler Townships. |

Batesville Fire Station - 115 E. Catherine Street
This firehouse has been through many changes over the years. Built in the 1950's, the original building includes the left three
doors. A significant addition was completed surrounding the original building in the 1990's. This 10-bay house (including several in the back) is home to all 10 BFR apparatus. |

Ladder 47 - 2005 Pierce Quantum 100ft Platform Aerial (#16640) - 1500gpm/300gal
L-47 is currently the only rear-mount Quantum Tower Ladder in the state of Indiana. This rig is first out on all fire calls for commercial and residential fires. This awesome truck was paid for in part by a FEMA grant as well as Town and Firefighter contributions. |

Engine 49 - 1982 Spartan/FMC/Bean/2002 Pierce Pumper (#F5022) - 1000gpm/800gal
E-49 is the first-due engine company for fires and incidents within the city limits. This apparatus went through a major refurb
in 2002 with the former open-cab being enclosed and an entirely new body built onto the back. |

Squad 50 - 2002 American LaFrance Eagle walk-around Heavy Rescue
Batesville's primary Rescue truck includes a wide-variety of equipment including a top-mounted light tower, a Cascade system
and a full set of Amkus extrication tools. Squad 50 is certified non-transport BLS and also carries RIT packs for fire scenes. |

Truck 46 - 1988 Chevy/Reading Brush Unit - HP/300gal skid unit
This truck originally served as the department's rescue truck. With the arrival of Squad 50, the rescue body was removed
and the truck was rebuilt to respond as BFR's brush/grass rig. |

E48 is the first-due apparatus for the rural areas surrounding Batesville. |

As shown on the door of this truck, the Batesville Community Fire Association, Inc.
provides for fire protection to the rural areas that surround the City of Batesville. Many smaller municipalities in Indiana respond with "city" or "township" trucks that are
paid for by the tax bases of those different residents. However, all apparatus respond from
the same departments and with the same personnel. |

Truck 53 - 2008 Ford F-350 Dualie - District 9 Regional MCI
T-53 was provided by the DHS. It responds with a large equipment and supply trailer (stored offsite) for Mass Casualty
Incidents throughout Southwestern Indiana. |
